Norma Ramirez-Barba

Coach Norma brings 13 years of volleyball experience as a setter. She played club volleyball with Storm Volleyball Club in San Diego and varsity volleyball at Eastlake High School in Chula Vista, California. She continued her career at the University of Saint Katherine and Grossmont College, where she competed in both indoor and beach volleyball. She currently attends and plays at Ottawa University Arizona.

Coach Norma has three years of coaching experience, including coaching with her former club and serving as the junior varsity coach at Southwest High School in San Diego.

Her playing highlights include leading the Cal Pac Conference to an undefeated season and advancing to the NAIA National Tournament during her freshman year at the University of Saint Katherine. She also qualified for the California beach volleyball state tournament with her partner and finished among the state’s top 25 pairs. One of her favorite coaching memories was working alongside her mom and helping their team win the CIF Division IV High School Championship.

Coach Norma believes in getting to know every athlete individually so she can understand how to challenge, encourage, and help each player improve. She focuses on creating a fun, competitive team culture built around effort over outcome. She believes that when athletes work hard and remain coachable, skill and progress will follow.

Beyond the court, she enjoys visiting Disneyland, spending time at the beach or pool, and being with her friends and family.
